Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, India's largest drug firm in terms of market capitalization, has received USFDA approval for an abbreviated new drug application (ANDA) for ketorolac tromethamine ophthalmic solution, 0.5%.

The ophthalmic solution, which has annual sales of approximately $40 million in the US market, is generic version of Acular ophthalmic solution, 0.5%, of Allergan.

The solution is indicated for temporary relief of ocular itching due to seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. The drug is also used in the cure of post operative inflammation in patients who have gone through cataract extraction.

The stock of the company today closed at Rs 1405, up 2% compared to its previous close. The total volume of shares traded was 16,660 at the BSE.
