Aurobindo Pharma gets nod for Lamotrigine Tablets

AurobindoAurobindo Pharma has informed that it has secured nod from the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA) for its chewable and dispersible Lamotrigine tablets in the strength of 5mg and 25mg respectively.

The drug is the generic equivalent of Lamictal CD tablets, and used in the treatment of partial and generalized seizures.

The company stated in a communiqué that it will launch Lamotrigine tablet, which comes under the central nervous system (CNS) segment, soon in the market.

With this latest approval, Aurobindo now has a total of 107 Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) approvals from USFDA.

The stock of Aurobindo Pharma today settled at Rs 818, up 1% compared to its previous close. The stock had hit a 52-week high of Rs 891 on 27 October 2009 and a 52-week low of Rs 102 on
6 November 2008.
