Largest forest protection deal for Canada
The environment groups and the Timber companies have gone for an agreement to protection of forests of Canada.
By this deal they are expecting to save two- third of this large forest. This deal will make the seventy two million hectares forest to be the world's biggest commercial forest conservation.
In the hope of sustaining endangered caribou population some of the land will be banned for logging. The timber companies are anticipating that the deal will provide them a good commercial profit as the buyers look for higher ethical standard.
The protected forest area is double the size of Germany and equals to the area of forest lost in between 1990 and 2005 across the world. The president and CEO of Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC) have decided a way to manage environmental and economic challenges in the forest and that will assure the sustainability of the products globally. The Canadian-Boreal-Forest-Agreement (CBFA) along with FPAC's 21-members and many environmental groups has stepped forward to protect the forest. All the groups have agreed to leave the criticism of the industry.
