London  - Arsenal forward Theo Walcott is likely to be out for several weeks after injuring his knee in training on Friday.

Walcott will miss Arsenal's Premier League trip to Newcastle United on Saturday, and is almost certain to be out of England's friendly against Slovakia and the World Cup qualifier against Ukraine four days later.

"He will have a scan on his knee today and we are a bit surprised and worried because he was in very good form coming back," said Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

Gelsenkirchen, Germany  - Germany defender Heiko Westermann has extended his contract with Schalke 04, the Bundesliga club announced on Friday.

The 25-year-old said that he was happy to have extended his contract until 2014. "It was not a difficult choice for me, Schalke has a special place in my heart."

Westermann, who joined Schalke in 2007 from Arminia Bielefeld for a transfer fee of 2.3 million euros (3.1 million dollars), had a contract that was supposed to run until 2011.

Hanover, Germany  - Bundeslig

Hamburg  - Paolo Guerrero scored twice and Ivica Olic the other as SV Hamburg fought from 2-0 down to a 3-2 triumph at Galatasaray Istanbul for a place in the UEFA Cup quarter-finals.

Galatasaray led from Harry Kewell's penalty and Milan Baros, but Guerrero's double in the 57th and 60th and Olic in the 89th turned the tide.

Hamburg won the round of 16 tie 4-3 from both games, ending Galatasaray's dream of playing in the May 20 final in their home town of Istanbul.

Hamburg  - Title holders Zenit St Petersburg were dumped by Udinese and the 2005 winners CSKA Moscow crashed against Skakhtar Donetsk on a bad Thursday for Russia in the UEFA Cup round of 16.

Zenit won 1-0 on the night but that was not good enough to reverse last week's 2-0 defeat in Italy as Udinese made a European quarter-final for the first time.

That also applied to Donetsk, who rebounded from a 1-0 first-leg loss in the Russian capital with a 2-0 home win over CSKA.

Munich  - Luca Toni remains sidelined at his German club Bayern Munich and also had to cancel two World Cup qualifiers for Italy due to Achilles tendon problems, coach Juergen Klinsmann said on Thursday.

Klinsmann told the Bayern website that Toni is not fully fit again and won't play in the weekend Bundesliga match against bottom club SC Karlsruhe.

The Italy forward, who has been sidelined for three weeks, also cancelled his appearance in the World Cup qualifiers in Montenegro on March 28 and against Ireland on April 1.
