Baghdad  - Four policemen were killed late Friday when unknown gunmen opened fire on them in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, local police sources told the German Press Agency dpa on Saturday.

The source said that the attack took place in the al-Karamah neighbourhood east of Mosul.

Mosul, about 400 kilometres north of Baghdad, has been the site of near-daily deadly attacks in recent months, despite successive security pushes that police say have netted hundreds of suspected militants. (dpa)
