Fortis announces Rs 250 crore expansion plan
Fortis Healthcare, the country’s leading healthcare major, has announced to invest Rs 250 for further expansion of its healthcare business in India during the financial year 2010-11.
New multi-specialty hospitals for Kolkata and Bangalore are also on the anvil with the proposed bed capacity of 414 and 300 respectively in lines with its plans to offer world class health services.
Mr. Vishal Bali, Chief Executive Officer of Fortis Hospital, told, "We plan to invest Rs 250-crore to complete the projects in Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore. This investment will be done over the next financial year."
The firm, which recently concluded the Wockhardt acquisition, has also plans to upgrade and expand its existing facility in Mumbai under its investment plan for the FY11.
Moreover, Fortis has also decided to establish a separate oncology division in Mumbai besides raising the bed-strength to 120 for its Mumbai facility.
Fortis would also raise the bed capacity of its existing hospital at Bannerghatta Road in Bangalore by adding 200 additional rooms. The move would enhance the total bed capacity in Bangalore to 1,000 by 2011, including 120 beds for intensive care.
