Everton close in on top five after win over West Brom
London - Everton moved to within a point of the top five after a comfortable 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Tim Cahill and Louis Saha scored the goals to move Everton onto 44 points, one behind Arsenal, who play Fulham later on Saturday.
Cahill headed Everton in front from a corner nine minutes before half-time, while Saha, back in the side after injury, made sure of the points with the second on 70 minutes.
The result leaves West Brom still rooted to the bottom of the table, three points away from safety.
Later on Saturday, second-placed Liverpool travel to Middlesbrough while Chelsea, three points back in third, are at home to Wigan Athletic. (dpa)
