Dr. Reddy gets green signal for Prograf generic
Dr Reddy's Laboratories has been granted with U. S. regulator's approval to finally release- tacrolimus capsules. A pill that helps prevent rejection of kidney and liver transplants, a spokesperson said on Friday.
Throwing more light on the matter, it was believed that Tacrolimus is a generic version of Prograf, produced by Japan's second-largest drugmaker Astellas Pharma.
Dr Reddy's who is supposedly the second largest drug manufacturer received an approval from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday, to legally launch the drug through its already established market from the coming week.
This move comes after a long wait as last August, Swiss drugmaker Novartis declared that its Sandoz business has released its first generic version of Prograf capsules after receiving the U. S. approval.
This declaration sees a rise in shares of Dr Reddy Laboratories, which saw a rise by 3.2 percent, raising up the market value from earlier claimed $4.8 billion.
