Proving a temporary reprieve to the Tata group’s Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) extended the lease of Taj Mahal Hotel, which also called Taj Mansingh, for another year.
The iconic five-star hotel is on land that was leased to IHCL for 33 years, which came to an end last October. The NDMC extended the lease but declared that an auction was inevitable.
NDMC Chairperson Archana Arora said in a telephone interview, “We are extending the lease of Taj Mansingh for a year or till the time the auction takes place, whichever is earlier.”

Under a major event in the Indian automotive industry, a memorandum of settlement has been signed between the Tata Motors management and the Telco Workers Union (TWU) on wage revision of its employees.

Tata Tea has announced its annual financial results for the fiscal year 2009-10 and it has managed to post an impressive 147% rise in net profit figure. The company has posted a profit after tax of Rs. 391.47 crore i. e. Rs. 3.91 billion for the year that ended in 31st March, 2010.
The profit after tax was reported to be Rs. 159.06 crore i. e. Rs. 1.59 billion for the financial year 2008-09. This net profit figure has grown up by 146.11% in this year as compared to the last fiscal. This has been informed by the firm in a filing at the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Tata Power, the country’s largest power utility company has reported net profit after tax and other statutory appropriations of Rs 141.9 crore for the third quarter of this financial year. The net profit was at Rs 101.1 crore which is 40.4 per cent higher than Rs 101.1 crore reported for same quarter last year.
The company increased net profits mainly due to additional power generation capacities of over 250 Mw. Hydropower generation was up 21 MUs while wind power increased by 32 MUs. Hydro, wind and merchant plant recorded a 40% increase in volume and accounted for 15% of total generation.
Auto design firm DC is all set to unveil the redesigned version of the world's cheapest car Tata Nano within the next two months which would cost around Rs 1 crore.

Mumbai, Dec 10 : A study team that visited the TATA steel plant in Jamshedpur recently felt that if the company continued the same pace of development the brownfield expansion plant would be completed by mid 2011.
TATA a major steel industry started the Brownfield expansion in November 2008.
“Orders for the 2.9mtpa expansion have been given and the civil construction is about 50 percent complete. Given that construction is the time consuming stage of a brownfield expansion, it indicates that the project is on schedule for completion by mid 2011,” the Ambit capital felt.
