Farnborough, Britain - The UAE airline Etihad Airways signed with aircraft producer Boeing a contract for 45 planes worth around 4.5 billion pounds (8.9 billion dollars), the airline announced Monday at aviation fair in Farnborough Air Show outside of London.
Included in the deal were 35 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 10 type 777 aircraft to be delivered between 2011 and 2020.
The Abu Dhabi-based company also provides the option of 25 further 787s and 10 Boeing 777s.
Earlier, only Air India was permitted to aviate to Dubai, but now Jet Airways and JetLite owned by Naresh Goyal have also been shown green flag by the government to operate flights to Dubai.
