13 Indian Cities To Say ‘Bye’ To Maruti’s Popular Brand ‘M800’

Maruti SuzukiMaruti Suzuki India has announced that the company has no plans to update its well-known brand 'M800' with a new engine in order to meet Euro IV emissions standards.

The country's biggest auto maker said that it would start terminating Maruti 800 in 13 cities by April 2010.

In this way, these cities would no longer be permissible for the sale of M800.

The 13 cities that come under the latest Bharat Stage IV norms comprise Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Surat, Agra and Ahmedabad.

The report said that other cities would carry on selling the model.

This could become a bad new development for Maruti as Tata's cheapest car 'Nano' would still be on sale in all 13 cities and it is cheaper than Alto, which would now turn out to be the cheapest hatchback on sale.

Introduced in the year 1982, Maruti 800 brought the dreams of thousands of middle class families to reality to own a car.
