Zardari gets reprieve in murder case
Lahore, Apr 17 : Two Pakistani courts have acquitted Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari in a murder case that was registered against him 11 years ago.
The Hyderabad District and Sessions Court gave a reprieve to Zardari, while proceedings against the other accused would continue.
Zaradri’s advocate Yousuf Leghari said that a First Investigation Report (FIR) was filed against nine people, including Zardari and his father Hakim Ali Zardari, for allegedly murdering former Irrigation Secretary Alim Baloch.
According to the Daily Times, the court had acquitted Zardari’s father four years ago.
Zardari’s petition stated that the prosecution had failed to provide any substantial evidence against the PPP co-chairman’s involvement in the murder. (ANI)
