Yahoo’s New ‘oneSearch SMS’ Service For Indians
Mumbai: Yahoo India, online products and services provider, has introduced oneSearch SMS, which is the company’s newest search offering in the mobile space for Indian users to discover any information.
OneSearch SMS will allow the customers to look for information anytime through mobile phones.
It is a free flow research and would offer information across the segments such as news, stocks, weather, sports, education and many others.
Pranesh Anthapur, Yahoo India's Chief Administrative Officer, said, “The pricing would depend on as per the SMS charges by the respective mobile operators.”
He said that the new service will also benefit a big part of mobile users who depend on SMS to stay connected, he said.
With the launch of oneSearch SMS in India, Yahoo is allowing all mobile users to seek out nearly any content type through its 58,242 short code, he said.
“Presently, we have started the service in the four metros and we plan to provide the service to 10 cities by the year-end. We are also planning to provide the service pan- India by 2008,” Mr. Anthapur added.
The new service ‘OneSearch SMS’ will be available via all key operators comprising Idea Cellular, Spice Telecom, Vodafone, Reliance Mobile, BPL Mobile, Aircel, Tata Indicom and Airtel.
Together with oneSearch SMS launch, Yahoo has also heightened its subsisting oneSearch WAP product by inclosing fresh content clusters consisting of local business listings, flight status information and Yahoo answers content.
Manish Dalal, India's, Senior Director, Mobile Products added that this is in addition to other content clusters, which includes mobile web results, weather news, web results, web images, finance and Flickr photos.
