VSNL will offer Wi-Fi Network to NTT Japan
Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) has partnered with NTT Japan to provide to its international in-roaming service on Wi-Fi. VSNL is also providing Wi-Fi network to customers of Singapore based Starhub in India. VSNL informed the stock exchange in its filing.
The tourists will be able to easily access wireless broadband in top 10 cities across India. The company has planned to upgrade its network and will add 100 more hotspots this year.
VSNL has invested a lot in development of Wi-Fi network in India. The company has the largest Wi-Fi deployment among domestic ISPs comprising of more than 350 hotspots. The company plans to offer Wi-Fi services to customers of International telecom operators over next six months.
VSNL stock was up by Rs 25.70 (5.24% higher) at Bombay Stock Exchange on Friday. Technical Analysts expect VSNL to cross 600 levels soon. The stock has been recommended by many technical experts for short term target of Rs 650 - 670. VK Sharma of Anagram Stock Broking informed that the stock has a resistance at Rs 560.
Mr. Prateek Pashine, Vice President - Planning, Retail Broadband Business, VSNL said, "Over the next six months, the Company intends to open up its extensive Wi-Fi network to millions of customers of international telecom operators, thereby enabling for travelers to India, access to high speed wireless broadband zones in key locations in the top 10 cities in the country."
VNSL has partnered with many Indian companies to provide Wi-Fi access. The list includes Taj Group of Hotels, Le Meridien, Café Coffee Day, Barista, Manipal University and Wockhardt.
