TVS Motor Files Rs. 250 Crore Defamation Case Against Bajaj Auto
TVS Motor Company has filed a Rs 250 crore defamation suit in the Bombay High Court, against Bajaj Auto Ltd.
The case is related to Bajaj’s allegation that TVS had infringed its patented DTSi (digital twin spark plug ignition) technology for its 125-cc bike `Flame' launched in August 2007.
Bajaj had patented its DTSi technology in 2002.
In a declaration related to this court case, TVS spokesperson stated, “We have gone ahead with a Rs 250 crore suit in the Bombay High Court, and have nothing more to say at this point of time. The suit was filed last week.”
TVS said that it has utilized their personal technology which they have called ‘CCVTi’ (controlled combustion variable timing intelligent) that is totally different from Bajaj’s DTSi.
TVS said that it a nasty effort to tarnish the overall position of the TVS group and said it would take legal action Bajaj if the accusations were not backed out and regrets expressed.
Previously, Bajaj had stated that it holds the international as well as Indian copyrights for the twin spark technology for small engines for which it got compulsory patent commendations in July 2005.
