In another indication of the country's improving job sector, Tata Consultancy Services has announced that the company has firm plans of employing about 25,000 new people for the year 2010-11. In the second quarter of the current fiscal year, the company has already placed 1,500 new employees, and another 8,000 would be employed in the current quarter.

Remaining 15,385 candidates would be sent appointment letters in the last quarter of the ongoing financial year. Currently, the company has a workforce of 1.41 lakh employees, and recently registered an attrition rate of 11.50% for 12 months.

"We are finalizing the business plan for the next year. We are going to campuses as the students enter their eighth semester", said Mr Ajoy Mukherjee, Head (Global HR) of TCS, while stressing that for the next year, the company has plans of inducting almost as many as 24,885 employees, some of which have already been recruited this year.

To ensure that students of the country do not get left behind, TCS will be hiring a total of 250 of them for its facility in Cincinnati, and 140 have already been hired. Also, the firm will fund 200 computer science PhD research candidates over the coming 5 years.
