AGP denies joining NDANew Delhi, Mar 5 : A pre-poll tie-up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may have taken place, but the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has denied joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Party chief Chandra Mohan Patowary said the relationship is confined to the sharing of seats only.

"We are not part of NDA. But we will fight elections together to defeat the UPA. It is only a seat sharing arrangement with the BJP," Patowary said.

Patowary also made it clear that both parties would have separate manifestos.

 BJP, AGP announces Lok Sabha poll tie-upNew Delhi, Mar 5 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced a pre-poll tie-up with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for upcoming general elections.

"BJP would contest eight seats from Assam, while the AGP would try its luck in the rest of the six seats," BJP president Rajnath Singh said on the sidelines of a joint press conference.

BJP prime ministerial candidate L. K. Advani, Sharad Yadav, Shushma Swaraj and AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary were also present at the press conference.

Dutt can only contest the Lok Sabha polls if he gets a stay.

The petition was filed on Thursday morning and will be mentioned in the apex court on Friday for early hearing.
