New Delhi, Mar. 5 : Six years ago, the use of insulin pumps, a diabetes treatment device that promised to give insulin-dependent diabetics a normal lifestyle free from constant insulin injections, found few takers in India. The reason was the prohibitive cost.

As some doctors said then, each pump cost as much as a small car.

New Delhi, Mar 5 : A pre-poll tie-up with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may have taken place, but the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has denied joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). Party chief Chandra Mohan Patowary said the relationship is confined to the sharing of seats only.

"We are not part of NDA. But we will fight elections together to defeat the UPA. It is only a seat sharing arrangement with the BJP," Patowary said.

Patowary also made it clear that both parties would have separate manifestos.

New Delhi, Mar 5 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced a pre-poll tie-up with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) for upcoming general elections.

"BJP would contest eight seats from Assam, while the AGP would try its luck in the rest of the six seats," BJP president Rajnath Singh said on the sidelines of a joint press conference.

BJP prime ministerial candidate L. K. Advani, Sharad Yadav, Shushma Swaraj and AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary were also present at the press conference.

New Delhi, Mar 5 : Bollywood actor-turned-politician Sanjay Dutt, who was named by the Samajwadi Party as its candidate for the forthcoming general elections, on Thursday moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on his conviction under the Arms Act in connection with the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Dutt can only contest the Lok Sabha polls if he gets a stay.

The petition was filed on Thursday morning and will be mentioned in the apex court on Friday for early hearing.

Country oldest political party, Congress is all set to use AR Rahman's Oscar winning music score ‘Jai Ho’ in its poll campaign.

The party has got the rights of the award-winning song from musical company T-series. The party feels that the popularity of the song and the excitement created by the Oscar win to correspond its point to the voters.

Confirming the development, Manish Tiwari, Congress party spokesperson said, “If one party deserves the song to be played during campaigns it is the Congress party because of its image.”
