Police file FIR against Varun GandhiNew Delhi, Mar 17 : Uttar Pradesh Police on Tuesday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi in Pilibhit for his alleged inflammatory speech against Muslims.

The case was registered under Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code.

Earlier in the day, the Election Commission filed a criminal case against Gandhi for his inflammatory speech against Muslims.

The Commission also directed the District Magistrate of Pilibhit to file the case against Gandhi.

30 river linking projects identified: Kirit Parikh

 EC files criminal case against Varun GandhiNew Delhi, Mar 17 : The Election Commission on Tuesday filed a criminal case under non-bailable law against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Varun Gandhi for his inflammatory speech against Muslims in Pilibhit.

The Commission directed the District Magistrate of Pilibhit to file the case against Gandhi.

The case would be filed under Section 153 A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 123 (a) and 123 (b) and would be non-bailable.
