New Delhi, Mar 24 : Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh on Tuesday announced that his party would not field any candidate against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajnath Singh.

"We will not field any candidate against the BJP president Rajnath Singh in Ghaziabad," Amar Singh told reporters here.

Singh, however, said that his party would help the secular candidate from the constituency to defeat the BJP president.

New Delhi, Mar 24 : Samajwadi Party (SP) General Secretary Amar Singh will get a chance to act as the Home Minister in the forthcoming Bollywood film ''Charge Sheet'', which is to be directed by Dev Anand.

"It''s my privilege that Dev Saab asked me for this favour and I simply agreed to it. Till date, I haven''t become any Minister and I never wanted to become one. In fact, I never thought of becoming the Home Minister. So no matter whether it''s just in the film, " said Amar Singh.

New Delhi - India's ruling Congress party released its election manifesto on Tuesday saying eradicating terrorism, protecting farmers and maintaining economic growth in the face of the global economic crisis will be its priorities.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi unveiled the party's policies in national capital New Delhi, ahead of the April 16 to May 13 elections.

New Delhi, Mar 24 : The Bharatiya Janata Party has finalised the names of 29 Lok Sabha nominees for Uttar Pradesh, including R. V. Singh and Pradeep Singh.

R. V. Singh will contest from the Amethi constituency against Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, while Pradeep Singh will contest against Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the Rae Bareli seat.

Party president Rajnath Singh, also cleared the names of candidates for State Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and Orissa.

New Delhi, Mar 24: The Congress party on Tuesday said that its focus in the 2009 general elections would be on eradicating the menace of terrorism, protecting farmers, countering the impact of global recession and enhancing the reach of the national job guarantee scheme.
