New Delhi - India on Monday condemned the terrorist attack near the Pakistani city of Lahore even as its defence forces said they were prepared to tackle any "spillover" of the terrorist threat, since the assault took place near the border.

"We do not have full information. We are deeply concerned. We condemn the terrorist attacks," India's Federal Home Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram told reporters in New Delhi.

"We condemn all terrorist attacks. We offer our sympathy to the the people of Pakistan," he said.

New Delhi  - Indian stock markets slipped into the red in morning trade on Monday with the benchmark Sensex index trading about 3.5 per cent lower than its previous close.

The 30-share sensitive Sensex index of the Bombay Stock Exchange was trading at 9,698 points at 12:20 pm (0650 GMT) 350.49 points lower than its 10,048.49 point close on Friday.

The Sensex had gained 1,081.81 points or 12.06 per cent during a five-day long bull run last week.

New Delhi, Mar. 30 : The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex has plunged below 10,000 points by losing 250.43 points in opening trade due to profit-selling by funds amid weak trends on the global markets.

The 30-share Sensex, which had gained nearly 1,070 points, or 12.06 per cent in last week, slipped by 251.43 points, or 2.45 per cent in opening trade as funds and retail investors preferred to book profits at prevailing attractive levels.

All the sectoral indices were trading in negative zone with losses up to 3.48 percent.

New Delhi, Mar. 30 : The newly appointed chief of paramilitary Bangladesh Rifles, Mainul Islam, is arriving here on Monday to discuss border issues between the two neighboring countries.

Islam, who was appointed as Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) chief following the killing of Major General Shakil Ahmed in a mutiny last month, is scheduled to meet India''s Border Security Force (BSF) head M L Kumawat during his three-day trip, a foreign ministry official n Dhaka said.

New Delhi, Mar 29 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani on Sunday said that the party's decision to reject Election Commission's advice not to field Varun Gandhi for the Lok Sabha Polls, was right.

"The party has taken a correct stand under the law and in accordance with Constitution," Advani said.

He, however, advised the party candidates to show restraint in their speeches.

New Delhi, Mar 29 : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Lal Krishna Advani on Sunday attacked on the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, claiming that he has not done enough to address the issue of illicit money hoarded in Swiss Bank accounts.

Advani demanded that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government disclose details of the accounts of Indians in Swiss and other foreign banks, estimated at between Rs. 25 lakh and Rs. 70 lakh crore.
