New Delhi, Apr. 7 : President Pratibha Devisingh Patil congratulated Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on his team''s series victory in New Zealand today.

In her message, the President has said, "I congratulate all members of your team on the magnificent achievement of winning the just concluded Test Series against New Zealand in New Zealand after a gap of 41 years. The nation is proud of this achievement.

New Delhi, Apr 7 : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Tuesday announced a cash reward of Rs. 2,00,000 to Delhi journalist Jarnail Singh for hurling a shoe at Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram during a press conference.

"Decisions are not taken by throwing shoes, but this incident has shown our pain and suffering. Bhagat Singh had also thrown a bomb in the assembly. We have thus announced a reward of Rs. 2,00,000 for his `courage and bravery'," SAD National General Secretary Avtar Singh Hit said.

New Delhi, Apr 7 : The Union Home Ministry on Tuesday refuted media reports of Home Minister P. Chidambaram refusing to answer a question put to him by journalist Jarnail Singh on the "clean chit" given to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in connection with the
1984 Sikh riots case.

According to a Home Ministry statement, the videotape is there and the Minister answered the question.

Mumbai-based Valecha Engineering Ltd has informed that it has picked new projects worth Rs 136 crores which includes road resurfacing of runway at Srinagar worth Rs 71 crores and construction of under pass connecting to Dwarka at Delhi worth Rs 65 crores.

Further the company stated in a separate announcement that its Middle-East operations are also progressing well and recently the company has formed a wholly owned subsidiary in the name of Valecha International FZE at Sharjah in UAE.

Valecha Engineering Limited operates as a construction and infrastructure company primarily in India.

New Delhi, Apr 7 : Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday promised that if the Congress was voted to power, the party will set up a war room headed by Cabinet Secretary to deal with terror.

Addressing a press conference here today, Chidambaram said the war room would be a part of the permanent crisis management group.

Claiming that the Congress is the only party that can deal with the terror surge squarely and decisively, Chidambaram said the war room would function as a 24-hour watch post.
