Shanoo''s killer is still abscondingNew Delhi, Apr. 18 : The teacher responsible for the death of 11-year-old Shanno Khan is still absconding nearly 24 hours later.

Shanoo lost her life for not knowing the alphabet. She spent 24 hours in coma.

Delhi''s Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has promised action.

She said, "Whether the girl deserved the kind of punishment that led eventually to her death is something which is very very sad and shocking. I have spoken to the MCD commissioner. They have suspended the teacher and also ordered an immediate enquiry into the whole incident."

At least 29 polling stations in Andhra Pradesh, five in Assam, two in Kerala and one in Uttar Pradesh will go for elections again.

One polling booth in Jammu and Kashmir will see repoll on April 19.

Five polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh and three in Nagaland will go to polls again on April 20th.

Pakistani army officer trained Mumbai terrorists, prosecution saysNew Delhi  - Ajmal Amir Kasab, the lone Pakistani gunman suspect captured during the Mumbai terrorist attacks, has confessed before a court that he and his colleagues were trained under the supervision of a Pakistani army official, the public prosecutor said Friday.

The trial of Kasab, who the prosecution accused of killing 166 people during the attacks, opened Wednesday and resumed on Friday after the special court in Mumbai appointed a new lawyer for the leading suspect.

NHRIs of South Asian nations pass resolution to promote national capacity building

NHRIANew Delhi, Apr. 17 : The National Human Rights Institutions of South Asian countries today passed a Resolution after a two day conference in New Delhi and agreed to work towards National Capacity Building through sharing of experience, information and best practices on human rights.

They also agreed to take steps to promote human rights awareness by holding conferences of NHRIs atleast once in two years in addition to exchanges of visits, training programmes and bilateral or regional cooperation between these Institutions.
