Unitech registers net profit of Rs 415.56 crore in Q2

Unitech registers net profit of Rs 415.56 crore in Q2 Delhi-based realty firm Unitech Ltd has registered net profit of Rs 415.56 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2008 as compared with Rs 138.09 crore reported during the same quarter in 2007.

The total income for the quarter has also surged to Rs 906.33 crore from Rs 572.60 crore in the year-ago period. However, company's consolidated net profit declined by 12.48 per cent to Rs 358.92 crore for the July-September quarter.

GVK Power’s net slips 23% in Q2

GVK Power & Infrastructure LtdSecunderabad-based GVK Power & Infrastructure has registered a net profit of Rs 30.47 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, a decline of 22.88 per cent from that in the corresponding period a year ago.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 39.51 crore for the second quarter last fiscal.

While, the company’s net sales raised to Rs 109.49 crore for the quarter under review, against Rs 96.05 crore.

For the half year ended September 30, the company had a net profit of Rs 71.02 crore, against Rs 61.09 crore.

Finnair third-quarter profits drop

FinnairHelsinki - Finnish flag carrier Finnair on Friday said higher fuel costs and lower ticket prices contributed to a "weak third quarter."

The group posted a pre-tax loss of 22 million euros (28 million dollars), compared to a pre-tax profit of 59.9 million euros for the corresponding business period in 2007.

Turnover increased 2.7 per cent to 559 million euros in the quarter, the carrier said.

The company has once again maintained its strong growth momentum.

For the quarter, the consolidated total revenues grew 42% to Rs 9,020 crore, while EBITDA stood at Rs 3,699 crore, up 37%, on a year on year basis.

The company’s net income for the three-month period ended Sep 30, 2008, rose 27% to Rs 2,046 crore over last year.

Cairn India posts 12 fold profit increase

The net profit of Cairn India increased 12 fold for the third quarter. Its net stands at 293.32 crore as per the reports released by the company. Cairn India has done a remarkable work in the field of oil reserves exploration in India.

Company’s turnover increased to 21 per cent and stands at Rs 321 crore. It suffered a loss of Rs 106.4 crore in the same period of previous year. The company made income of Rs 118.20 crore in third quarter form investments and Rs 172.37 crore in the nine months ended September 30, 2008 including foreign exchange fluctuation of Rs 87.34 crore and Rs 110. 83 crore.

M&M Q2 net down 35%

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited (M&M) reported a decline of 35 per cent in its net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2008. Its net profit was Rs 285.9 crore in the same period last year. Now, it stands at Rs 185.7 crore registering 35 per cent decline.

M&M reported an exchange loss of Rs 117.8 crore including a notional loss of Rs 96.7 crore. These losses were suffered following revaluation of the company’s net foreign currency borrowings. Its gross revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2008 registered a growth of 14.1% and stands at Rs 3,695.2 crore. It was Rs 3,239.5 crore during the corresponding period last year.
