The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, expressed his concerns over the situations under which Ratan Tata had to shift the Nano car project from West Bengal to Gujarat. Furthermore, the PM added that there is an earnest need for industrialization in the country. 

Nano episode had been making headlines in Media from quite some time now, and when Mr.Singh was asked to comment on it, he said, "Well, we are a free democratic country. It is certainly sad the circumstances in which Ratan Tata had to move his project."

The Singur land is up for takes after the withdrawal of Tata Motors. However, the State Commerce and Industry Secretary Sabyasachi Sen has urged the need to set up alternate industry in the land after acquiring it back from the Tata group. Mr. Sen also stated that if Tata's would like to set up any industry, they were welcome to do so. 

Also new investment for the 997 acres shall pour in only once the land is returned to the government. To quote Sen "So far no fresh proposal has come for the Singur land".

Burdened by the allegations of sabotaging industrialization and progress in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee visited Delhi to shift the responsibility for the loss of the Nano plant for Singur to others. 

She met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday to demand action against the West Bengal government under Article 355 for its failure to stand by the agreement, in the Singur case, which stipulates that 400 acres acquired be portioned out and returned to farmers. 

Malda (West Bengal), Oct 5 : Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi said here today that the West Bengal Government would have to take responsibility of the farmers who had parted with their land for Tata Motors small car project at Singur.

Dasmunshi said, "Since the affected farmers will not be able to cultivate their land until it is restored to its original form, so the responsibility of looking after the affected farmers lies with the state government."

Singur (WB), Oct 4: A 12-hour shutdown began here today in protest against the Tata Motor's decision to pull out Nano car project from Singur.

Most of the shops and markets are closed in the area and vehicular traffic are also off the roads.

Supporters of the shutdown blocked the Howrah-Burdwan Chord line at Kamarkundi railway station, holding up trains.

Farmers, who gave their land for the Nano project, blocked the Durgapur expressway besides the Tata's plant since last night protesting against the decision.

Singur/Dehradun, Sept 26 : Tata Motors has begun moving equipment out from its factory in Singur due to the prolonged disruption of work.

"We were asked to remove machineries as the work is anyway stalled. There are a lot of problems here, and it doesn''t seem the work will begin," said Rajiv, a worker.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Industries Minister Nirupam Sen reportedly told the state Cabinet that there is little possibility of the Tata''s Nano car project taking off from Singur.
