Pakistan intensifies Cyber War propaganda against India

PakistanWashington, Aug. 11 : Pakistan''s ISI is setting up a TV channel in Bangladesh as a part of its war over airwaves in the region, says the US based Global Geopolitics Network.

Pakistan''s state broadcaster PTV is also reported to have intensified its anti-India propaganda in the wake of the unrest in Jammu and Kashmir over the Amarnath Shrine forest land transfer issue. On an average, at least two hours of anti-Indian propaganda is aired by PTV.

US Ambassador’s key-meeting with Musharraf

Anne-PattersonRawalpindi, Aug 11 : US Ambassador to Pakistan Anne Patterson called on President Pervez Musharraf here, despite mounting calls that he step aside to spare Pakistan the trauma of a bitter impeachment process.

The meeting between Peterson and Musharraf is being given much importance by political circles in the wake of the ruling alliance’s move to impeach the President.

It may be recalled that the US Ambassador had recently returned from Washington after some crucial consultations and briefings.

Musharraf vows to counter Zardari’s allegations

Pervez MusharrafRawalpindi, Aug 11 : Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf today said that he would prove the allegations of PPP co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari false before the nation.

He made these remarks in meeting with a three-member delegation of PML-Q comprising Marvi Memon, Amir Muqam and Sheikh Waqas Ahmed.

The meeting lasted for an hour in which allegations levelled by Zardari against Musharraf came under discussion, the sources said.

Speaking on the occasion, Musharraf thanked the PML-Q for their support in the hours of need. “I will not disappoint you and face all the allegations of the ruling coalition,” Musharraf said.

Pakistan stocks up on state-owned institutions' buying Karachi  - Pakistan stocks roared upwards Monday by 2.7 per cent despite political upheaval as local institutions continued heavy buying to prop up depressed prices, traders said.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index gained 262 points to close at 10,171 after trading below 10,000 for most of the last week.

Pakistani parliament meets to impeach MusharrafIslamabad  - Pakistan's governing coalition was set Monday to initiate impeachment proceedings against President Pervez Musharraf after he defied calls overnight to resign in the face of "an unarguable trial."

The National Assembly, or lower house of parliament, convened at 5 pm (1100 GMT). It is expected see a tirade of accusations against the retired army general, but a formal battle will start only once a charge sheet is tabled later in the week.

Pak interior ministry directs provinces to keep a strict vigil on Indian visitorsKarachi, Aug 11 : Pakistan’s interior ministry has reportedly directed the home departments of all the four provinces to keep a strict vigil on Indians arriving in Pakistan on visit visas, and also asked them to submit reports on Indian nationals staying in areas close to the Indo-Pak border.

The directive has been issued amid fears that the locals staying in Pakistan were being used by Indian intelligence agencies (for carrying out nefarious activities).
