Stock Market Update

Bulls are back in Indian Stock MarketsIndian Stock markets had a great week as markets touched all time high. NSE Nifty touched an all time high for intraday on Friday’s trading session. BSE Sensex is hovering around 20k mark while NSE Nifty closed just 26 points short of 6000. BSE Sensex closed 170 points higher at 19966.

Technical Analysts believe that Stock markets may remain strong in near term unless there is some bad news from global markets. NSE member and Stock expert Mr. Ramesh Damani expects markets to remain strong till the budget next year.  

Another technical expert, Mr. Nilesh Shah from Envision Capital expects markets to remain strong as fundamentals are looking good. Among emerging markets, Indian Stock markets are still looking attractive and have offered decent returns over past couple of quarters.

As the stock markets ended the week with decent gains, there were many stocks which managed to hit 52-week high.

Adlabs Films touched a high of Rs 1225 on BSE and closed at Rs 1150. Apollo Tyres touched a 52-week high of Rs 53 and closed at Rs 51. Another tyre maker Ceat ended the day at 218 after touching a 52-week high of Rs 229.

Centurion Bank of Punjab was among major gainers. The bank touched a high of Rs 56.50 and managed to close near that level. City Union Bank (CUB) also touched a high of Rs 317 and closed at Rs 301. Dewan Housing touched Rs 191 and ended the day at Rs 177.

Eicher Motors touched 52-week high of Rs 574 and ended the trading session at Rs 545.  Essar Shipping closed the day at Rs 94.60 locked in upper circuit. The stock had closed at Rs 86 on Thursday and the low for the day remained Rs 94.6. Another stock which ended the day at 52-week high and locked in upper circuit was ETC Networks. The stock ended at Rs 191.80 on BSE.

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare touched a 52-week high of Rs 742. HB Stockholdings ended the day at Rs 93.15 on BSE. IDFC touched a high of Rs 226 and closed at Rs 224. India Infoline touched a high of Rs 1440 and closed at Rs 1422. Jindal South West Holdings ended the day in upper circuit of 10% with a gain of Rs 151 at 1662.

Kamat Hotels touched a high of Rs 302 and finally closed at Rs 288. Viceroy Hotels touched a high of Rs 115 and finally closed at Rs 108. However, Hotel Leela ended the day with loss.

Mukta Arts touched a high of Rs 209 and closed at Rs 203. Nagarjuna Fertiliser touched a high of Rs 88 on high volumes and closed at Rs 83.

Peninsula Land touched a high of 154 and closed at Rs 150. The stock was recommended by TopNews today for trading.

Banking major SBI touched a high of Rs 2455 and finally closed at Rs 2436. Two large cap stocks Sterlite Industries and Sterlite Opticals also touched their 52-week high.

Telecom major VSNL touched a 52-week high of Rs 675 and managed to close at 646.

Infosys Tech gained in today’s trading session as the company announced that the impact of US slowdown is little on their revenues.

Overall, the markets remained strong and there was selling pressure at higher levels. As the markets managed to close the day with gains, one can expect markets to open higher on Monday.
