Sharmila & Soha All Set For Mumbai Marathon On Jan 18

Sharmila & Soha All Set For Mumbai Marathon On Jan 18 The Mumbai Marathon, scheduled to be held on January 18, will feature some bigwigs from the world of entertainment, sports, politics and business. This will be the fourth year of the marathon.

Yesteryear superstar Sharmila Tagore and her daughter Soha Ali Khan will take part in the Mumbai Marathon in support of a cause taken up by actor Rahul Bose's NGO, ‘The Foundation’.

The mother-daughter duo of Sharmila and Soha is known for lending their support to the charitable causes.

While speaking on this, Soha said, “I am happy to be participating in the 2009 Mumbai Marathon Dream Run. I will be representing Rahul Bose's charitable trust 'The Foundation'. The recent terror attacks in Mumbai and the dangerous cocktail of terrorism and politics that our leaders are now engaging in are testing our nation's unity. It has been said that peace is far too important to be left to politicians alone.”

Sharmila said that she had taken a pledge "to speak up for the cause of children whenever and wherever it is necessary”. It may be here recalled that Sharmila is the UNICEF'S goodwill ambassador.

Apart from these, the six children adopted by the versatile actor Rahul Bose will be participating in the event. These six children (all 13 years of age) were born in the Andaman and Nicobar islands and are currently attending the Rishi Valley School in Bangalore.

Commenting over these children, Bose said, “Last year too these kids were part of the marathon but could not participate as they were legally below the age required for participation. But, this year they are allowed to run.”

Besides this, former India test team skipper Anil Kumble has also decided to be the part of this Mumbai Marathon.
