Serial robber who targeted Hong Kong prostitutes is arrested

Hong Kong - A man suspected of carrying out at least seven robberies on prostitutes working in Hong Kong brothels was arrested by police Thursday.

The suspect was arrested after a prostitute was robbed of 400 Hong Kong dollars (51 US dollars) in the Hong Kong apartment where she entertained her clients.

Police said they believed the man had carried out at least six similar robberies in recent weeks, tracking prostitutes down by scouring the internet for their addresses and details.

All of the women worked alone in so-called "one-woman brothels" in high-rise Hong Kong apartment blocks and were allegedly held up by the man after he arrived posing as a client.

In March this year, a 24-year-old man was arrested for killing three prostitutes in the space of two days in Hong Kong. The suspect is currently in custody awaiting trial for the killings. (dpa)
