Bhilai Steel Plant, the highest profitable division of the country's biggest steel manufacturer in the public sector, Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), has registered the record best first quarter (April-June) output.

In a declaration, BSP stated, "The plant recorded the best ever hot metal production of 1.39 million tonne (MT) in first quarter in fiscal year 2010-11 as against previous best of 1.27 MT in 2009-10."

The facility is situated in Bhilai, some 30 km west of Chhattisgarh capital Raipur.

It added that the facility has also registered its record crude steel production of 1.31 MT during the first quarter as against previous best of 1.25 MT in the fiscal 2006-07.

The facility has made the best ever Q-1 profitable steel production and loading figures of 1.137 MT and 1.11 MT respectively, as compared to previous best of 1.09 MT and 1.06 MT, respectively in Q-1 of 2006-07. (With Inputs from Agencies)
