Republican Senators ask George Bush to stop aid to Pakistan until Benazir killing probe

Lahore, Jan 11: President George BushOpposition US Senators have reportedly asked President George Bush to stop aid to Pakistan unless the investigation into former premier Benazir Bhutto’s assassination is completed.

The Senators belonging to the Republican Party wrote a letter to President Bush asking him to withhold aid to Pakistan until the completion of investigations into the assassination, reported the Daily Times.

A Scotland Yard team is currently in Pakistan probing the assassination.

The Pakistan People’s Party, however, has called for UN investigations in the murder, and given 48 hours deadline to the Pakistan Government to ask for a UN probe, failing which it will directly approach the international body. (ANI)
