Yemen's Saleh pulls out of summit after union plan ignoredSana'a, Yemen  - Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh pulled out of the Arab League summit in Doha on Monday in protest after his plan for setting up an Arab Union was not discussed, Yemen's state news agency Saba reported.

Saleh "withdrew from the closed-door session and the concluding session of 21st Arab summit in Doha in protest after he was not given the opportunity to read out the Yemeni vision on activating the joint Arab action and the establishment of an Arab Union," Saba reported.

Yemen issues list of wanted al-Qaeda suspects Sana'a, Yemen - Yemen's Interior Ministry on Monday issued a list of 154 most wanted al-Qaeda suspects as police forces launched a nationwide manhunt campaign for the fugitive suspects.

The ministry said in a statement that the list, which includes 85 Saudis, was circulated to police stations, checkpoints, airports as well as sea and land outposts.

Security sources said police forces, backed by helicopters, began a fierce manhunt for al-Qaeda fugitives, mainly in eastern and southern desert provinces of the Arab country.

The sources said the suspects included Abdullah Abdul-Rahman al- Harbi, a leading al-Qaeda suspect who was arrested in southern Yemen on March 14.

Yemen and Saudi Arabia have in recent years swapped dozens of suspects under a security agreement signed by the two countries in 2004.

Eight injured as Yemeni police raid militant strongholdSana'a, Yemen  - At least five policemen and three Islamists were injured in clashes after police raided a militant stronghold in southern Yemen on Saturday, police sources said.

The sources told the German Press Agency dpa the clashes took place in Ja'ar town, nearly 600 kilometres south of the capital Sana'a.

They said that around 400 police troopers took part in the raid on the mountainous town of Abyan province.

Ja'ar is close to the Hatat mountains where armed Islamist groups are believed to take shelter frequently.

Yemen nabs six al-Qaeda militants accused of planning attacks Sana'a, Yemen  - Yemeni Police forces have arrested six members of an al-Qaeda cell who allegedly planned to carry out 12 terrorist attacks against oil installations, foreign interests and tourists in the Arab country, the state-run Saba news agency reported on Wednesday.

Quoting an Interior Ministry official source, the agency said the group was "entrusted with executing a dangerous criminal and terrorist plan."
