Reincarnation of a great contemporary Tibetan master

59th Berlin Film Festival Berlin - Far from the glare of Israeli-Palestinian politics, Israeli filmmaker Nati Baratz has intrigued audiences at the 59th Berlin Film Festival with an extraordinary documentary about a monk's "reincarnation."

Called "Unmistaken Child," Baratz' entry in the festival's Panorama section is based on Nepalese monk Tenzin Zopa's lengthy search for the new embodiment of Gesche Lama Konchog, a revered rinpoche - an honorific title in Tibetan Buddhism for a master teacher - who died in 2001.

Dalai Lama warns that Tibetan culture in peril

Dalai LamaBaden-Baden, Germany  - The Dalai Lama warned in Germany Tuesday that Tibetan culture was in peril under Chinese rule.

"When narrow-minded Chinese officials portray Tibetan beliefs and our cultural heritage as a threat, the Tibetan people hear a death sentence," he said as he received an award from a German audience research company, Media Control, in the city of Baden-Baden.

The spiritual leader in exile, 73, insisted Tibetans were not trying to break away from China.

"We are not a threat, but an asset to China," he said at a ceremony attended by 600 German business and media celebrities.

Tibetans in exile voice their problems in a round table symposium

Dharamshala, Feb 7: Tibetans living in-exile here discussed their problems and shared their experiences with the officials of the District administration in a round table conference.

The conference named ''50-years of exile and 50-years of togetherness'' was organised by the Tibetan Centre for Conflict Resolution (TCCR) on Friday in an endeavour to share the experiences of living in India and also to bridge the communication gap between locals and the Tibetans.

TCCR is a non-profitable, educational organisation dedicated to the non-violent management of conflicts in the Tibetan Community and the world as a whole.
