Yemen issues list of wanted al-Qaeda suspects Sana'a, Yemen - Yemen's Interior Ministry on Monday issued a list of 154 most wanted al-Qaeda suspects as police forces launched a nationwide manhunt campaign for the fugitive suspects.

The ministry said in a statement that the list, which includes 85 Saudis, was circulated to police stations, checkpoints, airports as well as sea and land outposts.

Security sources said police forces, backed by helicopters, began a fierce manhunt for al-Qaeda fugitives, mainly in eastern and southern desert provinces of the Arab country.

Eight injured as Yemeni police raid militant strongholdSana'a, Yemen  - At least five policemen and three Islamists were injured in clashes after police raided a militant stronghold in southern Yemen on Saturday, police sources said.

The sources told the German Press Agency dpa the clashes took place in Ja'ar town, nearly 600 kilometres south of the capital Sana'a.

They said that around 400 police troopers took part in the raid on the mountainous town of Abyan province.

Ja'ar is close to the Hatat mountains where armed Islamist groups are believed to take shelter frequently.

At least nine African migrants drown off Yemen coast Sana'a, Yemen  - At least nine African migrants drowned after they were forced at gunpoint by the traffickers transporting them to to jump from a boat off Yemen's southern coast on Tuesday, rescuers said.

The traffickers forced more than 90 passengers, mainly Ethiopians, to jump overboard as the boat neared the end of its trip off the southern Yemeni town of Ahwar on the Gulf of Aden, rescuers told German Press Agency dpa.

ROUNDUP: Eight African migrants die as rescued boat capsizes at portSana'a, Yemen  - At least eight Africans drowned, and several others were injured, as a migrant-laden boat capsized at the southern Yemeni port of Aden after a French navy ship pulled the drifted boat to the port, Yemeni coast guard sources said.

The boat capsized when the passengers rushed to one side of the boat, loaded with around 100 migrants, as it was docking at the port, sources told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
