New Delhi, Jan. 14 : Union Petroleum Minister, Murli Deora has said that India is willing to offer a 10 per cent stake in Petronet LNG to Qatar.

Earlier, participating in the eighth edition of Asia''s largest petroleum exhibition and conference `Petrotech 2009' here, Qatar's Oil Minister Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah had said that his country is ready to supply an additional 2.5 million tones of LNG gas to India.

Manila - President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo left Saturday for a three-day official visit to Qatar in a bid to attract investments to boost the Philippine economy.

Arroyo was also expected to meet with executives of Middle East companies employing hundreds of thousands of Filipino workers, to seek assurances of their employment amid the global economic crisis.

She will also meet with the different Philippine ambassadors to the Middle East countries in order to assess the impact of the crisis on the Filipino migrant workers in the area.

DOHA, Qatar, Nov. 30 -- U. N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon opened a conference on development Saturday in Qatar by saying there is a global emergency.

Ban called on the World Bank and International Monetary Fund to shield developing countries that have managed to escape the global financial crisis, KUNA, the Kuwait news agency, reported.

"We also confront a development emergency and accelerating climate change," Ban said.

Doha - An imposing new Museum of Islamic Arts was officially opened Saturday in Qatar by Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, amid an opulent fireworks display in the latest addition to the emirate's cultural scene.

The museum, designed by the Chinese-American star architect I M Pei, is built on an artificial peninsula with design elements recalling Egypt's famous Step Pyramid of Sakar, an artistically- constructed sand castle and a moorish palace.

Featuring Islamic art works from the 7th to 19th centuries, the museum will be opened to the public on December 1.

India and Qatar signed various agreements on defense, security and intelligence sharing. The agreements were signed after a meeting between Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassem Bin Jabor Al-Thani.

Dr. Singh is on a two day tour of the gulf nations. PM would meet Qatar's Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani, who has arranged a special private lunch for PM and his wife on Monday.
