New Delhi, Apr. 6: Puducherry’s Lieutenant Governor Govind Singh Gurjar died in New Delhi on Monday following a cardiac arrest.

Gurjar, 77, was admitted to a private hospital on March 14 following a massive cardiac arrest when he was visiting his native village in Rajasthan.

He suffered another attack on Monday and was declared dead at 6:00 a. m.

Pudducherry Chief Minister, V. Vaidhilingam and his cabinet ministers have offered condolences on Gurjar’s demise.

Puducherry, Feb 9 : A ten-member delegation of the French Defence Ministry will arrive here on a two-day visit today.

The delegation will be lead by Jean Marie Bockel, Secretary of State of Defence. The team will comprise of French Ambassador to India Jerome Bonnafont, including French Defence Ministry veterans.

The delegation will meet war veterans at the ''Foyer Du Soldat'', an office of retired French military personnel.

The delegation will leave for Bangalore tomorrow.

The government of Puducherry appreciated the parents who got their children immunized for the second phase of polio immunization across the Union Territory on Sunday.

Speaking on this, Dr Dilip Kumar Baliga, Director of Health and Family Welfare Services said that for the purpose of immunization programme, the officials including paramedics, supervisors and Aanganwari workers were deployed in various centres. He said that all efforts to ensure that the immunisation drive was conducted smoothly.

Puducherry, Dec 18: A court in Puducherry will today hear the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Sankaracharyas, Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi are the main accused.

On November 21, when the case came for hearing before Principal and District and Session Judge of Puducherry D Krishnaraja, out of the 24 accused, only 12 were present.

The absentees included the two main accused Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi and junior seer Vijayendra Saraswathi.

Puducherry, Nov 21: A court in Puducherry today adjourned the hearing of the Sankararaman murder case, in which Kanchi Sankaracharyas, Jayendra Saraswathi and his junior Vijayendra Saraswathi are the main accused to December 18.

When the case came for hearing today before the principal District and Sessions judge D. Krishnaraja, out of the 24 accused, only 12 were present.

The absentees included the two main accused Kanchi Sankaracharya Jayendra Saraswathi and junior seer Vijayendra Saraswathi.
