PCB’s abrupt u-turn on trial games ahead of Lanka tourKarachi, Jan. 31 : It seems that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is itself not sure as to what it wants to do when it comes to organizing practice matches for players who are under going fitness problems or are under pressure to perform inorder to secure their places in the national squad.

In an abrupt u-turn from its earlier decision of holding two practice matches ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka, the PCB has now dropped the idea.

According to The Daily Times, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari met Afghan Foreign Minister Rangin Spanta here, and both the leaders agreed to deepen relations and work cohesively to improve regional security.

Pakistan may prosecute militants involved in Mumbai attack

PakistanIslamabad , Jan. 30 : A Pakistani official has told CBS News on condition on anonymity that it is likely that some of the militants detained in Pakistan in connection with the NOvember 2008 terror attack on Mumbai, "will be prosecuted on charges that have yet to be spelled out."

He said that Pakistani investigators have completed their probe into the alleged links between some of the 124 militants detained in the country and the Mumbai terrorist attacks of November 2008.

Western diplomats responding to the news, said a prosecution of this kind would be the first ever undertaken by Pakistan.

Shoaib given last life line by PCB to prove form, fitness

Pacer Shoaib AkhtarKarachi, Jan. 30 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to give Shoaib Akhtar one more chance to prove his fitness ahead of the forthcoming two match Test series against Sri Lanka.

According to The News, PCB will be organising two special trial matches next month during which Akhtar's performance will be judged, and a final decision on whether to include him for the Test series or not will be made.

Ahktar, who is struggling to regain his form and fitness, made a comeback in the international arena after a long gap of 14 months, in the recently concluded one-day series against Sri Lanka.
