Britannia Industries inks pact with Mauritius-based firm to acquire stake

britanniaThe 117-year-old biscuit major Britannia Industries has entered into an agreement with Fonterra Brands (Mauritius Holding) Ltd, Mauritius, for acquiring the latter's 49% Equity and Preference shareholding in Britannia New Zealand Foods Pvt. Ltd (BNZF), their joint venture company engaged in Dairy business.

With this acquisition, Britannia along with its wholly owned subsidiary will hold the entire equity and preference capital of BNZF. The acquisition is subject to Reserve Bank of India approval.

Mauritius hospital to receive investment from Fortis Health

Fortis Health Thursday saw an announcement coming from medical service provider Fortis Healthcare that a controlling stake in Mauritian hospital 'Clinique Darne' would be jointly acquired by it with CIEL Group for a total of $7 million.

The domestic firm confirmed, "Fortis, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Novelife Ltd, has joined hands with Mauritian group CIEL for acquiring a controlling stake in the overseas private hospital -- Clinique Darne -- with an investment of $3.5 million each."

The hospital would be rechristened 'Fortis Clinique Darne', once the acquisition process is completed.

Binani Cement To Raise Production By 2011-12Binani Cement Ltd has decided to make an investment of more than Rs 900 crore for establishing greenfield plants both in India as well as abroad to raise its overall production capacity to 15 million tonnes by the next three years (2011-12).

The company plans to invest around Rs 800 crore on the construction of a new plant in Gujarat, which would have an installed production capacity of about 2.5 million tonnes.

Moreover, the company is also eyeing a unit in Mauritius with a proposed capacity of two million tonnes.
