Tornado injures 25 in southern SpainMalaga, Spain - A storm with winds blowing at up to 180 kilometres an hour injured 25 people overnight in the southern Spanish city of Malaga, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) said Monday.

The storm, which was accompanied by rain and which Aemet described as a tornado, uprooted trees, knocked over advertising billboards, tore off the roofs of a bus station and of a parking lot, and caused widespread damage to vehicles and urban property.

Spanish police seize 81 works attributed to Salvador DaliMalaga, Spain - Spanish police have seized 81 works attributed to surrealist artist Salvador Dali (1904-89), some of which may have been stolen while others are fake, police said Thursday.

The works were confiscated at a hotel in the southern town of Estepona where they were exhibited for sale. Police arrested the French organizer of the exhibition.

The works included lithographies, textiles, bas-reliefs, cutlery and sculptures, including a three-metre elephant statue which was on sale for 1.2 million euros (1.6 million dollars).

At least 20 African emigres die at sea en route to Spain

Malaga, Spain - Spanish rescuers were Tuesday searching for the bodies of at least 20 African emigres who died on their boat while trying to reach Spain, national Red Cross sources said.

Twenty-five survivors were rescued overnight from the sinking boat off Almeria on the southern coast and taken to Malaga.

The boat was adrift for three days. The survivors said they had thrown overboard the bodies of their companions who died during the crossing.

The survivors included a woman who lost her husband, baby and two older children.

Four of the survivors were treated for hypothermia.

Another boat carrying 40 other migrants arrived in Almeria.
