They are trying their level best to chase them away, but not to avail.

Having unsuccessfully employed various measures to chase away the migratory birds, the farmers have resorted to bursting of crackers to shoo them away.

The farmers say that these birds feed on food crops causing huge losses to them.

Srinagar, Mar 14 : Archaeologists in Jammu and Kashmir have undertaken the renovation of a 15th century mosque near Srinagar. A prominent historical and architectural landmark of Srinagar, Aali mosque was constructed by Sultan Hassan Shah, a 15th century ruler of Kashmir.

The renovation work has been jointly undertaken by the state Tourism Department and the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) in an attempt to restore the mosque to its pristine glory.

The main aim behind the renovation of this 670 years' old mosque is to promote heritage tourism in the state.

Poonch (J-K), Mar 13: About five dozen people crossed the India-Pakistan border on the Poonch-Rawalakot bus service on Wednesday to meet their relatives on either side of Kashmir.

"We appreciate that we have got this chance to go there. We applied two years back and we have got the chance now," said Abdul Karim, a Pakistani Kashmir.

Poonch District authorities ensured adequate security for the passengers and their relatives.

Launched in June 2006, this second bus service between the two countries has been much welcomed by Kashmiris on either side of the Line of Control (LoC).

A bus service connecting Srinagar and Muzaffarabad was launched in 2005.

Srinagar, Mar 13: Haji Gulam Qadir Sunoo, a 64-year-old resident of Srinagar, has become popular as the 'pickle man of Jammu and Kashmir', who has prepared more than a hundred varieties of delicious pickles that tickle the taste buds of the people all across the world.

Qadir started took to pickle making in Srinagar after he suffered heavy losses in the transport business. He was inspired to start this lucrative business of pickle making by a pickle maker of Rajasthan.

Qadir's pickles have steadily gained in popularity both among residents in the valley and elsewhere.

His pickles are known for their fabulous quality and taste and have been in huge demand in the United States, the UK and Bangladesh, besides other states in the country.
