Iran to come up with new nuclear developments by April, says VP

Vice-President Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh Tehran  - Iran will come up with new nuclear developments by the beginning of April this year, Iranian Vice-President Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh said Wednesday, indicating a probable increase of the number of centrifuges.

"We will have good nuclear news again on April 9," said Aqazadeh, also head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, in a news conference in Bushehr, southern Iran.

Russia nuclear chief in Iran to inspect joint power plant

Tehran  - Russia's nuclear energy chief visited Iran to inspect the progress of the joint nuclear power plant at the port city Bushehr in southern Iran, the news network Khabar reported Wednesday.

Sergei Kiriyenko, the head of Russia's federal nuclear energy agency, and his Iranian counterpart Gholam-Reza Aqazadeh went to Bushehr to get acquainted with the latest developments at the plant, Khabar said.

Iran's Atomic Energy Organization said last week that Kiriyenko and Aqazadeh would attend an initial test of the controversial plant, which has already suffered from a number of delays.

Germany's ex-leader meets Iran's presidentTehran  - Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder met Saturday with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad after delivering a speech in Tehran criticizing the Iranian leader's stance against the existence of Israel and his denial of the Holocaust.

The meeting took place behind closed doors in the president's offices. A brief statement afterwards said the two had exchanged ideas about regional and international issues. Ahmadinejad also urged global cooperation to solve the world's problems.
