West Bengal villagers strive to conserve waterBankura (West Bengal), May 30 : Villagers in West Bengal's Bankura District have embarked on a water conservation project to ease water scarcity in the region.

Bankura District is a dry zone, but the only relief from the heat comes during the monsoon when the district receives some showers.

However, backward tribals have been working towards water conservation project that not only has changed their socio-economic status considerably, but also won them a medal from the President of India.

School students master defensive tactics in Jammu’s Doda District

Doda (Jammu and Kashmir), May 30 : School students of Doda District in Jammu and Kashmir have reportedly mastered a series of defensive tactics by the Indian Army.

The training programme, which was organised by the No. 4 Battalion of the Rashtriya Rifles for 30 girl students of various schools in the Bhadarwah Sub-Division involved basic weapon handling and shooting skills.

The range of arms that were used included AK-47, .303, pistol and even light machine guns.

During the training course, the girl students in particular radiated immense confidence and fearlessness.
