PCB team inspects Guwahati stadium ahead of Indo-Pak series

Guwahati, Sept 23 : A two member team of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) visited Guwahati on Saturday to examine the venue and security arrangements made for the Pakistani team for the one-day-international match scheduled to be held in November this year.

The team comprised of PCB's technical officer Zakir Khan, who is also a former Test cricketer, and security expert Sohail Khan.

The duo, accompanied by Suru Nayak of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), also visited the hotel where Pakistani team will stay.

Violence erupts in Kolkata over murder of a Muslim youth

Kolkata, Sept 22 : Violence erupted in Kolkata on Saturday following the murder of a Muslim youth.

An irate mob of over hundred people clashed with police in the city, and also blocked roads after rumours spread of the murder.

Police had to resort to tear-gassing to bring the situation under control.

Two vehicles were burnt and property was damaged before the mob was dispersed by the police.

India to sign production sharing pact for 3 deep water exploration blocks in Myanmar

New Delhi, Sept 22 : ONGC Videsh Ltd (OVL) will sign Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) for three deep water exploration blocks with the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE), a Myanmar government's undertaking.

Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, who is leaving on Sunday for a two-day visit to Myanmar, will also attend the signing of the contract.

Deora will be accompanied by Petroleum Secretary M S Srinivasan and OVL MD R S Butola.
