These websites are among the top five visited website categories.

In a message to the Indian-American community in his country, Bush said that the event reminds America of the "close ties" it shares with India.

"I send greetings to those celebrating the 62nd anniversary of India''s Independence," Bush said in a statement released through his Office of Public Liaison.

Yoga guru Ram Dev demands land back for Amarnath shrine

New Delhi, Aug. 15 :Yoga guru Ram Dev on Thursday jumped into the thick of a raging shrine row in Jammu and Kashmir, by demanding that forest land taken away from the Amarnath Shrine Board be restored to it.

Demanding the repeal of a state government order, Ram Dev also called for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the region.

"The federal government should not only give the land back to the Amarnath Shrine Board, but it should also allot land for the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, who are forced to live a life of refugees in their own country, which is very pathetic. I have visited Kashmir (and I know) there is a lot of land there which can be allotted for this purpose," Ram Dev told a news conference here.

Firing on India-Pakistan border

Firing on India-Pakistan borderSrinagar, India - Pakistani troops fired at Indian forward positions along a de facto border between the two countries in Jammu and Kashmir state early Friday, Indian officials said.

The Pakistani troops fired rockets and mortars at two places in forward areas of Jammu region, Indian Army sources said. There were no casualties.

Indian troops did not retaliate and a protest would be lodged with the Pakistani government, the sources said.

The line of control is a de facto border dividing the disputed Kashmir region into two parts, one administered by India and the other by Pakistan.
