Malaysian Indian youth to explore India

Kuala Lumpur, Oct. 3: Malay Indian youth may soon get a chance to explore India under the “Know India Programme (KIP)”.

According to a report in the New Strait Times, applications have been invited for a three-week stay in Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.

Under the programme, students and young professionals of Indian origin from all over the world, will be able to share views, expectations and experiences with their Indian counterparts in a move to promote better understanding of contemporary India.

Although the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) covers the cost of the stay in India, the applicants themselves will fund air travel on economy class to India initially.

The company currently imports about 25 percent mobile phones from its various facilities in different countries. The company has also doubled the capacity of its manufacturing facility at Noida with $24 million investment. 

The company would export mobile phones to various countries of South East Asia and West Asia from its Noida facility.

Japan's Nomura Holdings to acquire Lehman Brothers' Indian units Tokyo - Japanese securities house Nomura Holdings Inc has reached a basic agreement to purchase Indian units of failed US investment bank Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc, Japan's Nikkei business daily said Friday.

The Nikkei reported that Nomura, Japan s biggest securities firm, would take over the information technology development and back-office operations of Lehman Brothers as well as more than 2,000 employees in India.
