Uneasy calm in New Delhi''s ''encounter lane''

New Delhi/ Ghaziabad, Sept 20 : It was an uneasy calm in the ''encounter lane'' of Jamia Nagar here today, a day after the Delhi Police''s Special Cell killed two militants, including the alleged mastermind of Delhi blasts, Abu Bashar.

Residents preferred to stay in their homes to be away from police ''interrogation'' and the journalists who would pester them for ''soundbytes''.

Police personnel have been deployed in Jamai Nagar, but it may take time for the residents to come to terms with the fact that they were living next door to ''terror''.

Authorities and Non Government Organizations (NGOs) are doing their best to instill confidence among the residents.

BJP will waive off farmers'''' debt, renegotiate nuke deal if voted to power

Ghaziabad/Jaipur, Sept 8 : Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh has said his party would waive off the farmers'''' debt if voted to power.

Singh made this statement while addressing a public rally in Ghaziabad on Sunday.

"I want to assure you if you make Lal Krishna Advani as Prime Minister, we will waive off your debts," said Singh.

General elections are due in 2009 and the BJP is not leaving any stone unturned to return back to power under the leadership of L K Advani, who is the Prime Ministerial candidate of the main opposition National Democratic Alliance.

Krishna's custody extended by 4 days

Krishna, CBIGhaziabad, June 23 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has been given additional four days custody of Krishna in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case here today.

Krishna, worked as a compounder in 14-year old Aarushi's dentist father Rajesh Talwar’s clinic.

The agency arrested Krishna on June 13, while stating he had confessed to his involvement in the murder of Aarushi and the Talwar family's domestic help Hemraj.

Dr. Talwar, has already been under arrest since May 23 after Noida police claimed that he had murdered Aarushi and Hemraj on the intervening night of May 15-16.

Krishna confesses his involvement in Aarushi murder caseGhaziabad, June 17 : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday claimed before a special court that Krishna, the compounder of Dr. Rajesh Talwar accepted his involvement in the murder of Aarushi Talwar and domestic help Hemraj.

He promised that he would help in recovering the weapon used in the twin murder.

Krishna told the agency that he would also help them in recovering Aarushi's mobile phone and should be given a chance, the CBI claimed.
