Judgment in second Nithari case will be delivered todayGhaziabad, Apr. 1 : The judgment in second Nithari rape and murder case of 8-year-old Aarti will be delivered by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge today.

Aarti was the last known victim in the Nithari killings, having disappeared just about two months before the case was busted.

In the previous judgment in the Nithari killings, the Special CBI Court on February 12 awarded the death sentence to Moninder Singh Pandher and Surinder Koli for their respective roles in the Rampa Haldar murder case.

Major Mohit Sharma cremated with full military honoursGhaziabad, Mar 23 : Army Major Mohit Sharma, who lost his life while fighting terrorists in Kupwara, was cremated here with full military honours on Monday.

Sharma was killed along with three other soldiers on Sunday in an encounter with the terrorists.

Major Sharma's body was taken to Ghaziabad, where hundreds of his relatives, friends and other admirers paid their last tribute.

Court to pronounce quantum of sentence to Pandher, Koli

Court to pronounce quantum of sentence to Pandher, KoliGhaziabad, Feb 13 : A special court in Uttar Pradesh will pronounce the quantum of sentence to the main accused Mohinder Singh Pandher and his domestic help Surinder Koli in the Nithari killings case.

Judge Rema Jain will pronounce the quantum of sentence.

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court on Thursday convicted Pandher and Koli who are accused of killing and disposing off the bodies of 19 children and a young woman between 2005 and 2006.

Uttar Pradesh constables to undergo commando training

Uttar PradeshGhaziabad (UP), Dec 11 : In the wake of the recent terror attacks in Mumbai, the police forces of Uttar Pradesh have decided to raise a team of 100 men from its existing team of constables to combat militant attacks.

The National Security Group (NSG) commandoes who emerged as the real heroes in the Mumbai terror strikes would help in training these constables.

Code-named as the Quick Reaction Team of Ghaziabad, they are begin their month long training from the last week of December.

Assam CM demands NSG hub in Guwahati to tackle terror

Dispur/Ghaziabad (UP), Dec 5 : Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has demanded a National Security Guards (NSG) hub in Guwahati to efficiently tackle terror.

While addressing a press conference here last evening, Gogoi said that existing laws are not enough. The need of the hour is to have more harsh and stringent laws to tackle terror threats in the country.

"The Prime Minister has gone for hubs of NSG in different places. We want a similar hub in Guwahati and training facilities also. We have to train our people in a similar way," said Tarun.

Meanwhile in Ghaziabad, police personnel have tightened security measures by ascertaining the bona-fide credentials of occupants in hotels and also passengers at railway stations.
