Taipei  - Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama called on China to respect the Tibetan people's human right on Wednesday - Human Rights Day - in a message to a rights forum held in Taiwan.

The Dalai Lama sent the message to the international forum on human rights held by the Kaohsiung City government because he was unable to attend the seminar, attended by human rights activists from a dozen countries.

Taipei  - China will help Taiwan tackle the problem of glut production
of fruit by buying 1,200 tons of Taiwanese oranges next week, a
newspaper said Wednesday.

The Fujian Chaoda Group has agreed to buy 1,200 tons of Taiwan's
surplus oranges. Taiwan will send five shipments of the oranges to
Fujian Province starting Monday, the China Times said.

This is the fourth time China has helped Taiwan tackle glut production
of fruit since 2006, when bilateral ties began to warm through contacts
between Taiwan's Chinese Nationalist Party and the Chinese Communist

New Delhi, Dec 9 : A Chinese woman has filed for divorce after discovering that her husband was keeping a check on each of her move via satellite.

Zhang has complained that her husband, surnamed Wu, used a satellite positioning system to monitor her movements in Enshi, Hubei province.

She also accused Wu of frequently inquiring about her whereabouts, and that too with seemingly prescient insight.

She said that Wu had secretly activated a cell phone satellite positioning function to monitor her travels in August, reports the China Daily.

The special case has been accepted by a local court, which is now arranging a public hearing.

Beijing - China's monthly exports dropped for the first time in seven years as a result of the global economic crisis, a newspaper report said Tuesday.

According to a report by the 21st Century Business Herald, exports dropped to a little more than 100 billion dollars, while imports dropped by a double-digit percentage point.

China's customs authorities are expected to release the official figures on Wednesday.

The slump has alarmed China's leaders, who asked the customs office to provide daily reports on the latest numbers, which they previously only reported every 10 days, the paper said.

New Delhi, Dec 9 : A top Chinese official has said that China’s human rights development still had “quite a few things less than satisfactory,” but would see progress as the modernization drive goes on.

“Due to natural, historical, cultural and economic and social factors, there are still many problems and difficulties in the development of human rights,” said Wang Chen, the Minister in charge of the State Council Information Office.

Beijing - Beijing on Tuesday rejected Japanese protests against two Chinese ships entering the waters around a group of disputed islands in the East China Sea.

The Diaoyu Islands have been part of China since "ancient times" Liu Jinachao, a Foreign Ministry spokesman, was quoted as saying by the official Xinhua news agency.

"The usual cruising of the Chinese ships within Chinese seas is irreproachable," he said.

The islands, a source of bilateral tension for many years, are called Diaoyu in China and Senkaku in Japan.

Japan has held the islands since China9s defeat in the Sino-Japanese War in 1895, but they are also claimed by China and Taiwan.
