RAM working on extended-range electric version of 2025 Ramcharger

RAM, a popular automotive brand owned by Stellantis, has confirmed that it is working on an extended-range electric vehicle (E-REV), called the 2025 Ramcharger 1500, which promises a unique blend of range, performance, capability, and sustainability. While Stellantis has confirmed that it is working on a full-electric version as well as an extended-range version of the Ram 1500 REV, it has reached nothing about their details yet.

The new Ram pickup truck boasts a couple of two electric motors (one positioned at the front and one at the rear), a potent battery pack, in addition to a gas-powered generator.

The brand’s 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger, which has already been officially unveiled by the company, is a versatile powerhouse with a potent electric powertrain. It utilizes a two-part electric drive module (EDM) setup, with the front and rear EDM providing 250 kW and 238 kW, respectively, resulting in a combined 663 hp and 615 Nm of torque. This configuration is capable of propelling the Ramcharger from 0 to 60 mph in merely 4.4 seconds. For power, the e-motors rely on a 92-kWh battery pack, which can be recharged from both AC or DC sources or with the help of a 3.6-liter V6 engine that acts as an on-board generator.

Built on the innovative STLA Frame architecture, the Ramcharger is designed for full-size EVs and can tow up to 14,000 pounds with a class-5 hitch while offering a class-leading payload capacity of 2,625 lbs.

The pickup truck’s other notable features include a power tailgate and the RamBox, a weatherproof, illuminated storage unit in the bed, a multi-link rear suspension, active-level air suspension, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch passenger screen, and a head-up display, and premium materials like carbon fiber and leather.

While anticipation for the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger E-REV continues to build, pricing details for this groundbreaking EV have yet to be announced by Stellantis. The precise release date for the zero-emissions pickup truck also remains a secret. However, the manufacturer has confirmed that the conventional gasoline-powered variants of the 2025 Ram 1500 pickup truck are scheduled to hit dealerships sometime in the first quarter of 2024. The eco-friendly, all-electric Ram 1500 REV is slated to be releases in the final quarter of the same year, with the highly-anticipated Ramcharger E-REV expected to follow it sooner than later.
