Punjab police seize heroine worth 750 million rupees

Amritsar, Oct. 26: Punjab police on Saturday night seized 15-kilogram of heroine, which is valued at  750 million rupees in the international market.

According to the Senior Superintendent of Police of Amritsar (rural) police, Iqbal Singh, the heroine was recovered from one Mahabir Singh alias Tota Singh, a resident of Sarai Amanat Khan. He was currently residing at village Dhannu Harikae in Taran Taran district of Punjab.

“Mahabir Singh had buried 32 packets (15-kg) of heroine in the ground near defense drain, which is close to border village Raniaan,” said Iqbal Singh.

It was later discovered that Amritsar (Urban) police had recovered 17 packets of heroine from the same Mahabir Singh on some earlier occasion.

The latest recovery of 15-kg stored in 32 packets was done on Saturday evening.

A case under section 21/22/61/85 NDPS Act has been registered at Lopoke Police Station. The accused Mahabir has been sent on police remand till October 27.

Police personnel are anticipating more recoveries following the interrogation. (ANI)
