Performance version of Lucid Air Grand Touring boasts 1,050 hp & high-tech specs

American electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors has announced the addition of a new edition to its lineup – the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance, which comes with greater power and heftier price tag.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance boasts the horsepower rating of 1,050, significantly up from the Lucid Air Grand Touring’s power of 819 hp.

The Dream Edition of the electric sedan was launched with impressive power of 1,111 hp, but that was not available to everyone as the company produced only a limited number (520 units) of the model. Fortunately, the Grand Touring Performance has specs matching the Dream Edition and it is not going to be a limited production version.

According to Lucid’s claims, the Performance version of the EV takes just 2.6 seconds to sprint from 0 to 60 mph. That makes the new version 0.4 seconds faster than the 21-inch wheel Air Grand Touring’s quoted 0-60 acceleration time of 3.0 seconds.

Lucid Group CEO Peter Rawlinson said the company produced the Air Grand Touring Performance version in response to customers’ strong demand for higher-performance versions of the EV.

Speaking on the topic, Rawlinson added, “The remarkable speed with which we are able to conceive and bring this model to market is possible only because of Lucid’s high degree of vertical integration and in-house production of our proprietary EV powertrain and battery pack technology.”

Other notable specs of the new version includes Glass Canopy spanning windshield to roof, elegant and intuitive Lucid UX with 34-inch floating Glass Cockpit, extensive over-the-air (OTA) software update capability, DreamDrive Pro, Lucid’s advanced driver assistance system, with more than 30 features and future-ready hardware like LIDAR, 21-speaker Surreal Sound system with Dolby Atmos compatibility, and intelligent Micro Lens Array LED Headlights. When iot comes to charging, ultra-fast 900V+ charging system is there to add up to 300 miles of range in just in 21 minutes.

However, the Performance version costs $10,000 higher than the Lucid Air Grand Touring. More precisely, the new EV costs $179,000.

At the high end of the luxury electric car market, the Lucid Air has made a big impression and garnered a lot of reservations. However, the company is still in early stage of production. In February, the EV maker revealed that it had produced just 400 units of the vehicle since the start of production in September last year. The number of units produced was obviously no match to 25,000 reservations.
